Written Assignment

pencilsPart 8 of Organizational Profile - Corrective Action and Discipline

Analyze the corrective action and disciplinary process in your organization. In each case, be specific. Consider:

  1. If distinctions are made between corrective actions and discipline (provide breakout)
  2. If your agency's process is reflective of progressive discipline (identify the various components)
  3. How discipline is administered (i.e., is it fair, equitable, and consistent)
  4. The strengths of the system
  5. The shortcomings of the system
  6. How the shortcomings might be mitigated or removed

You are expected to backup your opinion with sources. You should be prepared to cite approximately 3-5 sources. Be sure to credit all sources. The length of this assignment will vary depending on the type of department you are analyzing and how succinctly you can make your points. The assignment should be somewhere in the range of 5-7 pages. You can visit Diana Hacker's Research and Documentation Online at http://www.dianahacker.com/resdoc/ to find complete examples of how to cite sources.
