Describe, analyze and evaluate (i.e., strengths and weaknesses) the performance management process within your agency. Address:

  1. The three distinct components of the performance management process.
  2. The philosophy behind your agency’s use of performance evaluation including purposes.
  3. The system your agency uses to evaluate performance (i.e., forced choice, BARS, performance standards linked to categories ,etc.).
  4. The form (customized or generic).
  5. The training of evaluators (or lack thereof).
  6. The appraisal interview process.
  7. The perception and acceptance of agency members of the performance evaluation process (and reasons for this perception).

If your agency does not have a formalized performance management process in place, state this. Design a performance management plan for use in your organization. Address the above components.

You are expected to backup your opinion with sources. You should be prepared to cite approximately 3-5 sources. Be sure to credit all sources. The length of this assignment will vary depending on the type of department you are analyzing and how succinctly you can make your points.
